Young Farmers Win Big with a first-of-its-kind tax credit

Andy and I are advocating for improved access to farmland for beginning farmers with our friends in the Central MN Chapter of the Young Farmers Coalition. After months of meetings, phone calls and testimonies at the Capital in Saint Paul we were successful in passing a first-of-its-kind bill for beginning farmers. The bill creates an avenue for existing farmers to sell land to beginners in return for a tax credit, benefiting both the buyer and seller. We are hopeful for a bright future in agriculture and more ecstatic that we were part of the impetus that passed this bill.
